Course content

Visits are made to different art galleries and museums using public transport. Students are supplied with sketch books and art materials and encouraged to express their art skills and take photographs. A student’s enthusiasm is more important than ability.

Who is the course suitable for?

The course is suitable for any adult with learning disabilities, who enjoys art and would like to increase their confidence in having new experiences and meeting new people.

Students will draw sketches, in a variety of ways, of things they see in art galleries and museums. They will also be able to take photographs where allowed; They will interact with other students and carers, gallery staff and members of the public. They will be encouraged to record details of things drawn in their sketchbooks.

By the end of the course, you will:
·     Feel confident in trying out new artistic techniques.
·     Be aware of the different types of art there are and how they can be accessed.
·     Feel confident in expressing own views about art and other interests.
·     Feel part of a group with similar interests.

Teaching
Students will be encouraged to decide what they would like to draw and photograph and interact with other students.
