We welcome applications from mature students, and genuinely believe that a mixture of backgrounds, ages and personalities enriches the student learning experience. Mature students study with us across the range of our courses, at both further and higher education levels.
Even if you don’t have conventional entry qualifications, we offer many opportunities for adults with the right motivation, potential and aptitude. Previous achievements and work experience, as well as any examples of your art and design work, will be taken into consideration (this is called accreditation of prior learning, or APL).
Our course tutors will offer support to help you successfully complete your course as well as guiding you in making future choices.
If you’re a single parent claiming benefits, you may study a full-time or part-time course without losing your benefits, and your tuition will be free.
If you would like to discuss your qualifications and experience or any other issues such as finance for a course or childcare, please contact the Student Advice Team. You may be able to get support with any childcare costs; read our finance FAQs page.
